About the Program

We are in the final stages of planning the 2008 Alabama Mining Institute to be held September 30— October 1, 2008 at the Bryant Conference Center on The University of Alabama Campus, and you are invited to attend. Anyone interested in mining, geology, mining regulations, mine construction and development, mine health and environmental issues, coalbed methane and related subjects should participate.

Professional engineers and geologists will be able to use the Institute for their Professional Development Hours (PDH) requirement. Full participation in the 2-day meeting will constitute 15 PDH credits.


Four technical sessions are planned:

MINING:
Mining Regulatory Issues, Mine Health and Safety, and New/Advanced Mining Technology

GEOLOGY:
Coalbed Methane Geology, Structural Geology of Alabama and the Black Warrior Coal Basin, Depositional Geological Features, and New Technologies in Geology

COALBED METHANE:

Legislative and Regulatory Issues, Geology, National and International Developments, New Coalbed Methane Gas Fields in Alabama, Production Updates, and the Economic Impact on Alabama

INDUSTRIAL MINERALS:
